discarded to divine 2011: this photoshoot was inspired by none other than the “iconic diva” diana ross and her character in the movie, “mahogany”. it was a rewarding experience for ahr.es.ihm to work with galiara the artist’s alley, tomatis photo, diva couture cosmetics, royal management, and chinyere keita (model).

the design is called “burnished vine” and is a submission for the 2011 discarded to divine fashion show and auction. made of cast-off shower curtains and drapes and remnants of chiffon, ahr.es.ihm’s design is stylish but a practical woman’s evening gown.
“it was exciting to design this gown, exclusively to benefit the st. vincent de paul society’s programs. i just hope whoever wears it, has fun feeling sexy, elegant, and timeless in it, just like chinyere did”, said r. shay miles, ceo/designer.
when shay found a shower curtain and gold drapes from st. vincent de paul society’s discard bin, she envisioned an eco-friendly holiday evening gown. five designs were illustrated and after a month she finally decided on a two-piece, fluid, corset waist gown to submit to this project.
“ahr.es.ihm is thrilled to participate in fun and innovative events like the charity fashion show, paul mitchell’s fashion fantasy, and discarded to divine” said rochelle d. bridgeman, coo. “we are excited to champion charitable concepts like these, which helps to promote cultural diversity, community involvement, and homeless outreach.”
